I have been making a camera mount for the Leopard, as I enjoy making on-board video from my RC devices. The commander's hatch can be opened and is commonly used for mounting the TAMIYA battle system. I don't imagine doing tank battles so I have decided to use this for making a camera mount point. I have found a small ball head and a Sony flash shoe converter on ebay.
The Sony flash shoe converter was flattened on the Sony side and mounted on the mounting plate inside the commander's hatch with some powerful double sided tape. Then the ball head can easily be added and removed. When the camera mount isn't being used, the hatch can be closed and the mount becomes invisible.
Here are some pictures:
I hope the pictures speak better than words. The flash shoe needs to be mounted quite far to the right and rather precise to allow the set screw in the ball head to pass through.
Now I have ordered a Mobius action camera fo mounting on this tank. More info on the camera: http://www.chucklohr.com/808/Mobius/
